Use case and consent flow

Opt-in happens through Clara Health's consent email and web confirmation flow after a provider adds a patient.

Use case description

Clara Health is the sender of record. Healthcare providers add their patients’ phone numbers and email addresses to Clara Health. Clara Health sends the patient an email asking them to enable SMS updates. The patient must open the Clara Health consent link and explicitly confirm they want to receive care updates by text. Only after that confirmation do recurring updates begin.

  1. Step 1

    A healthcare provider registers the patient’s phone number and email address in Clara Health, and Clara Health sends a consent invitation email to the patient.

  2. Step 2

    The consent email clearly explains the program and links the patient to a Clara Health consent page where they can choose whether to receive text messages.

  3. Step 3

    Clara Health records the timestamp, phone number, and web consent confirmation before recurring automated SMS are sent. Patients who do not complete that consent flow receive no automated care messages by text.
